Lion's Gate Ritual: A Simple Spell for Manifestation and New Beginnings
Share
Every August 8th, the Lion's Gate Portal opens, a magical time when the sun in Leo, the star Sirius, and Earth align. It’s believed to bring a surge of positive energy that helps with manifestation, clarity, and growth and is a perfect time to dream big and start fresh.
If you’re new to this, don’t worry! This ritual is super simple yet filled with calm energy. It’s one of my favorites, and I actually did a similar version of this last summer in my backyard.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- One green tealight (for abundance and fresh starts) If you don't have green, white is a great substitute
- Spring water (purifying, grounding, and helps hold energy)
- A pinch of cinnamon (attracts abundance and good fortune. Plus it smells amazing)
- One white candle (for clarity and cleansing) I use a chime candle for time's sake
- A crystal sphere (amplifies your focus; clear quartz works great)
- Green jade chips (for luck, calm, and heart-healing). If you don't have green jade, clear quartz, citrine, amethyst, rose quartz, and pyrite are good alternate choices
- A dollar bill
Plus, if you like the super-cool box I use for my own ritual supplies, you can find it here.
Step-by-Step Lions Gate Ritual
1. Cleanse your space.
You can use sound, smoke, or just your intention. It doesn't have to be fancy; the goal is to feel present and peaceful.
2. Set your items up.
Place the white candle in the center. Set the green tealight to the left and your crystal sphere to the right. Sprinkle your jade chips in a small circle around the setup (or lay them out however you wish). Place the dollar bill with either the jade chips or your green tealight. Keep your spring water nearby.
I used a tiny little bottle of spring water I collected from a natural spring here in Florida. It was totally enough.
3. Sprinkle cinnamon on the tealight candle and the dollar bill.
Just a pinch need. This adds warmth and power to your intention, like giving your wish a little boost of heat energy.
4. Light your candles.
Start with the white one. Say something like:
"I call in clarity, calm, and light."
Then light the green tealight:
"I welcome abundance, healing, and growth."
5. Gaze into the crystal.
This doesn’t have to be serious. Just breathe deeply and let your mind rest. Imagine your goals (or even a singular word that represents your goals) filling the sphere with soft light.
I always see mine as a gentle soft white glow.
6. Pour the water into the earth (or a houseplant).
This is you literally planting your intention. You can say something like "With this water meeting earth, my intentions too take root," or think about your goals as you pour the water into the dirt. Just be intentional!
After the Ritual
Let the candles burn out safely. Place the dollar bill in your wallet and either carry a jade chip with you the next day or leave them all with the crystal sphere on your altar. And if you’re anything like me, you might want to write down how you felt after—sometimes the smallest rituals create the biggest shifts.
If you're just starting out in your practice or are short on time, this kind of ritual is perfect: simple, sweet, and personal. No fancy robes, no complicated chants; just you, your tools, and the intention to grow.
Stay mystical, friends!
