10 Witchy Things to Do in June: Sunshine, Spells, and a Whole Lot of Magic

10 Witchy Things to Do in June: Sunshine, Spells, and a Whole Lot of Magic

June always feels like a whirlwind of sensory experiences; everything is blooming, buzzing, and just begging to be noticed. The days are long (and super hot here in Florida), the nights are busy, and the energy is at its peak. It’s the perfect time to refresh your practice and soak up that big bright solar magick! So here are ten witchy things you can do in June to bring in the good vibes, work your magic, and have a little fun along the way.

1. Celebrate the Summer Solstice (Litha)
The Summer Solstice, or Litha, is one of the most powerful days of the year for solar energy. It’s the longest day and the shortest night—and it’s all about fire, abundance, and gratitude.

Simple Litha Ritual:
Light a candle (try for orange, gold, or yellow, but white is a good substitute), write down what you're grateful for this season, and then safely burn the paper as an offering. Dance barefoot in your yard if you’re feeling bold. (Or if you're me, trip over a stick, fall down, and laugh at yourself.)

P.S. My Moon Shelf  makes a lovely altar addition for your solstice setup. You can find those on the website.

2. Make a Sun Water Infusion
Moon water gets a lot of attention, but June is perfect for making sun water. Just fill a jar with water, set it outside at high noon, and let it soak up that solar goodness for a few hours.

Use your sun water to anoint candles (I use it on my candles and then add an anointing oil like this one), add to spellwork, or spritz around the house to invite positivity and clarity. My favorite? A simmer pot!

3. Try This Summer Simmer Pot
Simmer pots aren’t just for fall! Try this sunny blend to clear out stagnant vibes and bring in joy.

Sunshine Simmer Pot Recipe:

  • Orange slices (for happiness)
  • Lemon peel (for clarity)
  • Fresh rosemary (for protection)
  • A cinnamon stick (for energy)
  • A few rose petals (for love)

Let it simmer on the stove and let your home fill with solar magic. Or, if you're like me and don't want to babysit the pot or constantly worry about it, put your mixture in a crockpot. I use a small one I bought specifically for my simmer pot recipes.

4. Do a Garden Blessing Spell
Whether you’ve got a full garden or just a couple of potted herbs on your windowsill, give your green babies a little magical boost.

Quick Garden Blessing:
Draw a sigil for growth or abundance on a rock or piece of wood and place it near your plants. Whisper a few words of intention and give them a drink. It doesn’t have to be fancy—plants are great listeners.

5. Forage and Dry Herbs
June is a great time to collect herbs like lavender, mint, and thyme. Hang them upside down to dry and store them for spellwork, teas, or crafty projects later.

Just make sure you know what you’re picking! My kid once handed me “mint” from the yard and, well… it was not mint.

6. Make a Witchy Wind Chime (DIY Time!)
Gather some sticks, string, shells, crystals, charms—whatever calls to you—and tie them together to make a magical wind chime.

Enchant each piece with intention. Shells for communication, bells for protection, feathers for freedom. Hang it near your front door or in the garden to keep the energy flowing.

7. Journal Under the Full Strawberry Moon
The June full moon is called the Strawberry Moon, and it’s a perfect time for reflection and intention-setting.

Sit under the moonlight with your journal (or grab a refillable one here). Ask yourself:

  • What am I growing?
  • What am I ready to harvest soon?
  • What do I need to release?

8. Create a Mini Fire Ritual
Fire is big energy, and June is the month to use it!

Write down what you want to let go of—fears, doubts, bad habits—and burn it in a small cauldron or fire-safe dish. Watch the smoke rise and imagine those worries leaving your body.

My wooden boxes (especially the ones that look like spellbooks!) make a great spot for storing your fire-safe ritual tools. Just don’t light anything in the box. Safety first, friends!

9. Craft a Solar Protection Charm
Take a small pouch and fill it with:

  • Dried rosemary (protection)
  • Black tourmaline or tiger’s eye (grounding)
  • A small mirror or shiny object (to reflect negativity)

Keep it in your car, bag, or by your front door. I keep one in my purse.

10. Connect with the Element of Fire
June is full of fire energy, literally and spiritually. Lean into it. Light candles (a perfect time to use some anointing oil), sit by a bonfire, or do a meditation where you imagine a flame burning in your solar plexus, feeding your confidence and joy.

You don’t need to do anything fancy. Just sit, feel the heat, and let the fire remind you that you are strong, magical, and still totally allowed to nap when you want to.

Final Thoughts:

June is such a rich month for witchy work—there’s sun and warmth and a whole lot of magickal potential. Whether you’re dancing barefoot in the grass or quietly stirring a simmer pot in your kitchen, just remember: your magic matters, no matter how you practice.

And if you’re looking for tools to make your practice even more special, take a peek at the shop! I’ve got handcrafted altar pieces, magical decor, and some surprises that just might become your new faves.

Stay mystical, Friends!
